Hairy Bikers Star Si King Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Dave Myers on One-Year Anniversary of His Passing trucc

Si King shared a heartfelt message about close friend Dave Myers during an appearance on ITV's Loose Women

Hairy Bikers star Si King has opened up on his friendship with Dave Myers as he shared a sweet tribute to the star.

Dave, who died at the age of 66 in February last year following a battle with cancer, had often been seen on-screen alongside his co-presenter Si.

In just a few days Si is set to honour his co-star and close friend at the second Dave Day. The celebration, held in memory of Barrow-born TV chef Dave, is expected to draw thousands of bikers and fans from across the UK.

Returning to Barrow, Cumbria, over the weekend of June 21 and 22, it will see a concert headlined by an "international superstar" and charity football match.

Last June, tens of thousands of bikers flocked to Dave's hometown with £127,000 raised for charity. Ahead of the special celebration, Si 58, appeared on Thursday’s (June 12) episode of Loose Woman alongside panellists Charlene White, Linda Robson, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore.

Diving straight into the interview, Charlene started off by saying: “You have a Dave Day every year and it’s important for you to keep his legacy going throughout all the work you’re doing.”

In a heartfelt moment, Si admitted: “Dave hasn’t stopped being my best mate since he passed. He is always going to be there.”

Jane then asked: “What do you miss most about him?” Dave joked: “Do you really want to know?” Everyone burst out laughing as Charlene warned: “It has to be suitable for daytime telly Si.”

Si explained: “He used to do something really unsavoury in the lift and then get out early.” Everyone laughed as he continued: “It happened all the time that it became a massive game.”

Speaking about the impressive turn out at Dave Day last year, Si revealed: “We had 46,000 and we had 173,000 people.” Revealing how the special day came about, he revealed: “It was a lovely person who got in touch with Lily (Dave’s wife) and said ‘when I’m feeling down I think I’m having a Dave Day’.”

It comes as Si recently issued a plea to bikers to make sure they're registered for Dave Day 2025. Speaking ahead of the event, Si took to social media and told his followers: "It's just a reminder to get registered for Dave Day. It's not that far away, so, you know, get the bike ready.

"Get your helmet on, get your leathers on and we'll see you there. Don't forget, do get registered. It's simple enough to do. Stick Dave Day into Google and it's all there."

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV and ITVX
