Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa got engaged during the shocking finale of The Bachelor Season 29. During the season, Juliana opened up about wanting to find love again after a difficult relationship in her past. Grant, on the other hand, also wished to find a lasting love after getting his heart broken on The Bachelorette.
Only a few months after announcing their engagement, Grant and Juliana announced that they had broken up. While many Bachelor Nation break-ups often come as a surprise, this one did not.
Is Grant Ellis still engaged?
Despite getting engaged during The Bachelor Season 29 finale, Grant is no longer engaged. Both Grant and Juliana have posted separate messages regarding their break-up. It’s clear that the former couple made the decision to split amicably.
In a post on his Instagram story, Grant shared a picture from his and Juliana’s engagement shoot to share the sad news. Grant explained that he and Juliana decided to end their relationship after a lot of deep conversations and honesty. He wrote, “What we had was meaningful. The connection we built on the show was real, and so was the effort we made to continue once the cameras stopped rolling.”
Juliana’s post told a similar story, written next to a photo of the first time she and Grant met at the mansion. She shared that while she and Grant both still believed in marriage, they ultimately decided that they weren’t the best fit for one another. Juliana added, “We’re still cheering each other on, just from different places now.”
Grant and Juliana Pasquarosa surprised some viewers when they got engaged
During The Bachelor Season 29, Grant and Juliana’s engagement came as a surprise to many viewers. While Juliana had a steady connection with Grant all season, she didn’t initially stand out as a contender. Grant had several connections just as strong as and at times even stronger than the one he had with Juliana.
One of these connections was Litia Garr, who many fans expected would receive Grant’s final rose. Up until the very end, it seemed like Grant would choose Litia over Juliana. During the finale, however, Grant shocked Litia by confessing that his connection with Juliana was stronger.
When discussing her perspective at After the Final Rose, Litia admitted that she was sure Grant would choose her. She even revealed that he had asked her about stopping the show early to be with her. This made Grant’s decision to get engaged to Juliana even more of a surprise, as it seemed like he had been equally as serious about Litia. Knowing that Grant was so torn between the two women up until the end makes it less of a surprise that a relationship with one of them didn’t work out.
Grant and Juliana’s relationship was controversial
In addition to having a controversial beginning, Grant and Juliana’s engagement continued to become a subject of controversy. Shortly after the finale, Juliana confessed that many of the women from her season had not been supportive of her. She shared that when she reached out to those who would be in attendance at ATFR, they told her that they were only going to support Litia.
Throughout the season, Juliana had a feud with fellow contestant Carolina Quixano. After Carolina expressed doubt about her connection with Grant, Juliana confronted her and told her that she should be grateful for her time. Following Grant and Juliana’s break-up announcement, Carolina took to TikTok to share her thoughts. In one of her videos, Carolina seemingly hinted at Juliana when she questioned someone being ready for engagement on The Bachelor before receiving a one-on-one.
Apart from strained relationships with the rest of her cast, Juliana has received scrutiny for her political affiliations. In a video the former couple took together at a house of Juliana’s friends, eagle-eyed viewers noticed “Trump Inauguration Party” on a calendar in the background. Given recent events, this rubbed many fans the wrong way. Juliana claimed that it wasn’t her house, but nonetheless, many viewers found it to be controversial. While Grant and Juliana’s split is heartbreaking, it isn’t one Bachelor Nation fans failed to see coming.
