Gorka Marquez has been flooded with messages to support as he told fans he was 'happy to announce' a career move away from Strictly Come Dancing - but it means a major change to his time on the show this year
The professional dancer is preparing for a return to the ballroom as the BBC One dance contest after he was confirmed in the returning line-up. However, he's confirmed he won't be getting a partner this year.
It was in April that the BBC confirmed in the professional line-up for Strictly's next run, set to begin this autumn. Gorka when the competition returns in a matter of weeks alongside Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones. Lauren Oakley and Neil Jones.
Also making up this year's pro line-up are Nikita Kuzmin, Kai Widdrington, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Michelle Tsiakkas, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu and Vito Coppola.
It was also confirmed that two new professional dancers will be joining the show and the newcomers have since been revealed as So You Think You Can Dance champion Alexis Warr and Australia’s Dancing With The Stars' Julian Caillon.
Now, Gorka has revealed that as well as his return to Strictly, he'll also be back for a second series as a judge on Bailando con las estrellas, the Spanish edition of the popular dance show.
Sharing the news on Instagram on Wednesday (August 6), the 34-year-old said; "I am happy to announce that I will be back for season two of BAILANDO CON LAS ESTRELLAS as a judge from September.
"Due to the filming dates this means that I won’t be competing with a partner this year in Strictly but I will be a part of lots of the group numbers and will be back for final weeks of the Show to support the rest of my fellow pros and their celebrities in what is going to be an AMAZING SERIES."As always thank you for all The love and support and remember! Keep dancing!!!" His fiancee Gemma Atkinson was quick to respond, saying: "Vamos! Very proud."
His Strictly co-stars were also quick to show their support while fans shared how gutted they were that he won't be competing this year.
