Candiace Dillard Bassett is gearing up for her new reality.

On Thursday, August 8, The Real Housewives of Potomac alum took to Instagram to share a look inside her “surprise” baby shower. The event took place nearly four months after Candiace and her husband, Chris Bassett, announced they were expecting their first child together.

“I’m still not over this!!!!” Candiace captioned the Instagram video. “My friends are the absolute greatest. They threw me and [Chris a] surprise ‘Besties Only Basset Baby Shower.’ Like, are you kidding me??!!"

The celebration was held in a private room at RPM Italian, an upscale restaurant located on Washington, D.C.'s K Street. Candiace confirmed her mother, Dorothy Watts, was among the attendees.

“They even snuck my mom [Dorothy] into town!” she continued. “When you’re ripping and running all over the place, it can be easy to forget how blessed you are. I’m so grateful for my friends, my day ones! My family! For reminding me that I am loved and showering me and [Chris] in such a special way.”

Candiace admits she was afraid to start her pregnancy journey

The Howard University alum was about 13 weeks pregnant when she shared her baby news back in April. She reflected on her new chapter in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, explaining why she decided to start IVF treatments after years of hesitation.

“I got the itch,” she said. “I always wondered, like, how would I know when I was ready? And I always felt like a part of my anxiety was that I wasn’t sure that I would know, and when I knew, it was undeniable. I kind of woke up and realized that I was never going to be 100 percent ready. I just had to… trust the process and trust my doctors and stop being afraid and just do it. So once we decided together that we were going to do that – together – it just was kind of all moving by faith from there.”
