The reveals keep coming as the women of The Real Housewives of Potomac continue their girls’ trip in Panama, not the least of which is how Gizelle Bryant’s children feel about their father getting married.
In Season 9, Episode 14, Karen Huger happily slept in after the group’s wild dinner the night before, making no excuses for the added beauty rest before joining the rest for breakfast. The Grand Dame asked Wendy Osefo for a five-minute rundown of what she missed that morning, and Wendy didn’t even know where to start.
“O.K., in summation, a few things happened. Jamal [Bryant] is getting married,” she said.
Gizelle, who shares three daughters with Jamal, said her ex-husband and his new bride-to-be, Dr. Karri Turner, had already set a date. However, she said she had zero intention of attending the nuptials, doubling down on comments she made to Bravo’s The Daily Dish in October 2024.
But how did 20-year-old Grace and 18-year-old twins Angel and Adore feel about it? Mia Thornton wondered.
Gizelle shares her daughters’ reactions to the big news
In the recent RHOP episode, Gizelle told Mia that her daughters “don’t know her,” referring to Jamal’s then-fiancée.
“They’ve met her twice,” said Gizelle. “[Jamal] refers to her as his friend.”
The concept sounded familiar to newbie Housewife Stacey Rusch, whose relationship with “friend” Thomas Anthony “TJ” Jones remains hands-off.
Wendy then questioned whether Gizelle thought Jamal’s new woman looked like her, something some have pointed out since Jamal announced the engagement in a May 26, 2024, Instagram post. Even though Gizelle met Turner in person, she said the soon-to-be new Mrs. Bryant was “not in [her] league.”
What we know about Jamal’s engagement
Earlier in RHOP Season 9, Gizelle opened up about how Grace, Angel, and Adore felt about their father’s decision to remarry, explaining Jamal dropped the news after taking the girls out to dinner.
“You know, the girls were a little confused,” Gizelle said. “Because, again, they didn’t know he had a girlfriend. He just went friend, fiancée. But you know, different strokes, different folks.”
Meanwhile, Gizelle thought a new wife could be a good thing for Jamal.
“Well, I knew it was coming. I’m very happy for him,” Gizelle said. “I have been telling him for years, ‘You need to get married.’ Pastors and politicians need to be married. And I need for him to stay in good graces with the girls.”
Has Jamal Bryant remarried yet?
Yes, Jamal and Turner officially tied the knot on November 15, 2024, months after filming for RHOP documented Gizelle’s thoughts on the engagement, as seen in several posts on Jamal’s Instagram page. In one post, Jamal stated, “Only God allows a Second Chance to find your First Love.”
“It feels like a fairytale and a dream that came true!” Jamal captioned with a video of his special day. “The Lord brought me the most brilliant and beautiful woman in the universe, and now I get to call [her] my wife.”
It’s not clear whether Gizelle had a change of heart and attended the lavish event, which took place at Atlanta’s Waldorf Astoria. However, she was spotted looking fabulous the next day when hanging out with Ashley Darby, Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, and Robyn Dixon.
Gizelle and Jamal were married from 2002 to 2009 but separated due to Jamal’s infidelity. They tried to rekindle the flame back in 2019, but by 2021, the romance fizzled out.
Meanwhile, Gizelle’s love life continues this season on RHOP. Most recently, there have been sparks between her and her speed-dating guy, Nnamnse, though only time will tell if the romance will blossom.
