It's possible that we'll be seeing Carly and Jason reunite on General Hospital.
With Sonny in town, Jason and Carly weren't thought to be able to work out. After all, Sonny is just too tempting for Carly given their past history. The writing team made it clear that the pair were only destined to be friends moving forward.
Writer Laura Wright told Soap Opera Digest that they "aren't going to be together moving forward." She explained: “I feel like if they are together, they have to be all in and, like, ride into the sunset together. I don’t feel like they can live in the same town with Sonny and function… They just have to be alone.”
The show seems to be heading in that direction, at least. While Carly was speaking with Spinelli, she dropped a line that left everyone wondering what could be in her future. Carly just found out that she was leverage that Cates used over Jason's head, forcing him to work with the law. This came with quite a bit of sacrifice on his end, including avoiding his children and basically disappearing for three years.
The levity of the situation wasn't lost on Carly. “I’m so moved,” she said. “To see how much Jason loves me.” However, she also noted that she was annoyed that he made the decision without even talking to her about it first. It became clear, at least, that Jason's love was now front and center in her mind.
It was Spinelli who really sealed the deal with the scene, pointing out their love was just as strong as his own with Maxie. “I love Maxie the way Jason loves you,” Spinelli said.
The writers haven't confirmed anything, though, so all we know is Laura wasn't confident on the character's future. She pointed out yet another issue that might have come between each other — time. She said: “I feel really strongly that the two years he’s been gone, those years terrify her because they’re years that were without her.”
