Gemma Atkinson didn't seem to be overly convinced to take up a new running journey after taking part in the Greater Manchester Run over the weekend.

But the Hits Radio host later seemingly had a slight change of heart as she made a 'dare I say' admission with her fans on social media.

Gemma, 40, took part in the 10k race on Sunday (May 18), while her fiancé Gorka Marquez took on the half marathon, with them both raising money for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary.

Gemma previously told how the sanctuary, for whom she is president, was needing the cash to help build a new cattery. Writing on her and Gorka's joint Just Giving page, she said: "With the cat crisis at an all time high in the Northwest we’re building a new cattery at Bleakholt to be able to house and help more cats before they find their forever home.

"Being funded only on donations we appreciate every single penny for this wonderful cause and charity. Thank you so much, Gem & Gorks."

Following the run, Gemma took to social media with a snap of herself and her pals smiling with their medals. Alongside the post, she wrote to her 2.1 million followers: "We did it! (It was horrendous) [crying laughing emoji]. But we did it!!"

She later shared her results which revealed she completed the 10k in 57 minutes, 43 seconds. "Proud of myself," Gemma rightly shared.

The mum-of-two continued: "I didn't enjoy the actual run [crying laughing emoji]. But what an atmosphere!! Dare I say... See you next year [eyes emoji]."

Gemma also shared a video of herself and Gorka celebrating as their donations came flooding in. "We made it home. Honestly, hand on heart, I can't thank you all enough. We have made - you've made, over £15 grand for Bleakholt. Last year we did £10,000 so in my head I wanted to get more than £10,000."

Gemma was then seen turning to Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka who cheered at their donation amount so far, which had actually jumped to £17,306 at the time of writing.

A number of other Strictly stars also took on the race(Image: Gemma Atkinson Instagram)

"Thank you everybody," Gorka said. "Amazing," the dancer added before planting a kiss on his partner's cheek.

It was also a Strictly reunion as a number of other stars also took part in the huge event, including professional dancers Jowita Przystal for Dog's Trust and Carlos Gu for Young Minds.
