A former Dancing With the Stars pro is coming clean about a romantic connection that happened on the show. Damian Whitewood didn’t exactly avoid the question of whether he’d had a romantic relationship with his celebrity partner in his one season on the show. But did Whitewood and partner Pamela Anderson date during their time on Dancing With the Stars?

Whitewood hinted that he did indeed have a romantic connection with Anderson while on the July 8 episode of the “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast. After being asked if he and Anderson were “involved romantically,” the answer was pretty unequivocal.

“Did we get involved? We went around the world together. So yeah. It’s a great way to travel around the world and see the world with somebody. Absolutely,” he said. It was such a direct answer that host Cheryl Burke didn’t even feel the need for a follow-up question.

Funnily enough, at another point in the podcast, Whitewood noted that he had a chance to meet Anderson’s ex-husband, Tommy Lee, who came to rehearsals for Dancing With the Stars. The celebrity couple was divorced then, in 2010. It was an interesting tidbit from Whitewood, particularly considering what he said about his own relationship with Anderson.

In general, Whitewood had nothing but favorable things to say about Anderson, starting from the revelation that just learning that he would be partnered with her “blew [his] mind.”

“This is somebody I watched as a kid. Literally, had calendar, posters,” he gave context for why he felt that way on the podcast. “Just to learn the industry from her, like she’d gone from zero to a hundred in a heartbeat, you know, and so it’s like, just to learn that from her and then to kind of navigate it, that was a blessing. That was definitely the most important thing that I got out of our partnership. And then I was lucky with her because she was such a huge figure,” he added.

Anderson and Whitewood finished the season in sixth place. Two years later, Anderson was asked to return for the All-Stars season. Whitewood, however, wasn’t asked to return then and hasn’t been asked to return since.

“I didn’t get asked to come back for that one, so that was, again, they brought her back and they didn’t bother to ask me back,” Whitewood also said on “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans,” adding that he would have returned to the show “in a heartbeat.”
