Love Island

Although it was only a few months ago since Gabby Allen and Casey O'Gorman were crowned the Love Island: All Stars series two winners, there's no slowing down the Love Island machine, as series 12 has been confirmed!

Returning for its usual Summer slot on ITV2/STV2, Love Island will return to Mallorca for a brand new Summer of love with host Maya Jama. Here's everything you need to know, including the rumoured start date!

When does Love Island start?

There's no official start date just yet, but bosses have now confirmed the series will go ahead in Summer 2025.

In past years, Love Island has launched in the first week of June, so we could see the show return on either Monday 2nd or Monday 9th June.

Bosses say of the new series: 'The OG dating show returns as a fresh batch of singletons prepare for the summer of a lifetime in the ultimate search for love.

'Maya Jama will preside over all of the in-villa action as the class of 2025 get set for all of the twists and turns the Island has to offer, from bombshell arrivals to surprise dumpings.

'Series 12, which celebrates a decade since the show first hit screens in 2015, comes hot off the heels of Love Island All Stars, which quickly became one of the most streamed series in the show’s history - the show has also become the most watched programme for 16-34 year olds on over 400 occasions.'

Who are the Islanders?
No Islanders have been confirmed for the 2025 series just yet.

How can I apply?
Although applications for series 12 of Love Island have been open since the 2024 series ended, they have now closed.

The application website stated: ''ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who want to head to the sun, in search of love. The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island.'

Applications are now closed.

What channel is it on?
As usual, Love Island will air on ITV2 and ITVX, and STV2 and STV Player for viewers in Scotland.

Where is the villa?
After filming the All Stars series out in South Africa, the Summer edition of Love Island will return to sunny Mallorca, Spain.

No pictures have been released of the villa at this moment in time.

Who is the host?
Rumours were rife at the end of 2024 that current host Maya Jama was ready to leave her role on the show, ahead of the All Stars series in early 2025.

However, shutting down the rumours and calling it 'fake news', Maya told fans: 'I will be presenting Love Island next year and have no plans to leave right now. Filmed the promo a couple of days ago actually. Fake news is fake news-ing as usual'.

Bosses have now confirmed Maya will return for the 2025 Summer series.

Has Iain Stirling left?

He's been the voiceover since the start, providing hilarious commentary every night, but in May 2025, rumours were rife that Iain Stirling had QUIT his role on Love Island.

A TikTok account pretending to be Iain shared: 'It's been a hectic few months for me and the Love Island team having to go back and forth on my decisions.

'Unfortunately I have quit being a voiceover for Love Island UK, however I will still be carrying on for the USA version.

'Making this decision wasn't easy and Love Island UK will always have a special spot in my heart, words cannot describe how much love I have for every one of you and I wish best for the next voiceover'. (sic)

HOWEVER, don't panic! The post was from a fake account, and it's understood Iain will be returning for the 12th series.
