Dubliner Danny has also revealed his Finglas, Dublin-born father is adamant he will only jet home to see his son perform if he makes the final four.

'I'd love to get to the final, hoping that my dad would come home to see me,' Danny told the Irish Mail on Sunday this week.

Danny, who is everybody's favourite troublemaker, Buster Brady, on his father's hit comedy show, Mrs Brown's Boys, revealed the father and son's close bond.

'I miss him and I would love for him to come back and sit and watch but that is only if I get to the final,' Danny said.

O'Carroll senior has been based in sunny Florida for some time but has been watching his son perform in the shows every Sunday despite the time difference.

Danny left the judges lost for words in week two of the show when he topped the scoreboard with nine points from each of the four judges - a total of 36.

'After the Charleston dance, I FaceTimed my dad when I went up to the dressing room and it was quite overwhelming...The feeling was nearly like winning the show, it was that good.' Danny said his dad has been an emotional wreck watching on.

He continued: 'Nobody has ever gotten that score before, early on, and my dad started crying on the phone. It choked me up. I couldn't believe it...He is so behind me. It's like they're living for Sundays now. All week. I get texts, messages, calls asking me how I am doing.'

And should he not reach the last round in this season, Danny is Florida-bound soon to see his dad when his stint on the show comes to an end.

'I've seen him at Christmas, and I haven't seen him since, so I'll be looking forward to seeing him when this is all over.

'I'm going to go straight to Florida and get the hug that I love getting,' he told the MoS.

Danny also gave a jaw-dropping performance for the Movie Night round last week.

He and partner Salome Chachua knocked out a Paso Doble to the Gladiator film theme, Now We are Free, which had them come in with a score of 25 from three judges.

'It was quite tough because I'm used to playing a silly character [in Mrs Brown's Boys]. I'm not an angry person at all - ever - so getting in that type of character was tough. Salome was beating it into me all weekend during training.

'I was concentrating so much on being that character that I was nearly forgetting the steps, so you have to balance it. I was enjoying it but it is not me. I'm glad it is over,' he said.

Danny said his two young sons have been surprised and overjoyed at their father's hidden dance skills. Not before trying to dissuade him from taking part.

'Both of their reactions were "Dad, please don't do it"', he laughed.

'They've never seen me dance so they thought I was going on TV to make a show of myself. And they're just blown away.

'I'm continuing to blow them away and that makes me want to go further. My kids are so proud of me. It's lovely. I want to do better for them every week,' Danny added.
