Eamonn Holmes gives concerning health update after operation 'went wrong' ngocc

GB News host Eamonn Holmes has been dealing with severe health woes in recent years as he continues to suffer with chronic pain

Eamonn Holmes spoke about his tough year in his first public appearance since his split from Ruth Langsford.

The GB News presenter took to the stage at the TRIC Awards today at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London where he collected an award alongside his co-host Isabel Webster. It is his first public appearance at an awards show since he split from Loose Women star Ruth.

Speaking on stage today, he said: “Thank you very much for this award. We were up against world class programmes and that makes it a little bit more special. Sometimes we all think about imposter syndrome. I went for an operation a year and a half ago and it went wrong. I got two things in my back that I didn’t want."

Ahead of the TRIC Awards, sources close to Eamonn revealed he would likely attend the show - but because of issues with his back, it was not 100% confirmed.

"He would like to go but it is in the balance, a lot will depend on how he feels on the day," the source told The Mirror ahead of the ceremony, which took place today.

A spokesperson confirmed Ruth and Eamonn had split a few weeks back in a shock statement. The former couple’s spokesperson added: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."

He returned to work on the Tuesday after the split was announced, where he thanked viewers for their well wishes. He said: “So here we are on this Tuesday morning and a lot of politics. Just before we move on I would just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation. Your support for both of us is very much appreciated." He had earlier made a cryptic comment about “what a weekend it was”.Eamonn posed alongside Christine McGuinness at the TRIC Awards

A source added at the time: “Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day’s news without mentioning his split so he’ll say a few words. He is putting on a brave face and will be the true professional he always is. Focusing on work will be a welcome distraction."

Eamonn and Ruth had been married to Ruth since 2010, and the pair have one son together. They became household names presenting This Morning together on Fridays and during school holidays and whilst Ruth has returned to the show in the past alongside co-host Rylan Clark and now works on its sister show Loose Women, Eamonn now works with a rival broadcaster.

Ruth has not been on Loose Women since the news of her marriage split broke.
