"Dancing With the Stars” alum and Nickelodeon icon Kel Mitchell is teaming up with Bucket Listers to bring “Kel’s Burger Fest” to Brooklyn on August 30, according to amNewYork. The one-day-only event will take over BK Backyard Bar in Williamsburg with burgers, games, music, and a heavy dose of ‘90s nostalgia.
Mitchell, who finished as runner-up on “DWTS” season 28, called the event more than just a food festival. “This is more than a food festival—it’s a full-on burger bonanza,” he said in a statement. “Whether you grew up watching my shows or just love a good burger, this fest is for you. Can I take your order?”
The fest will feature an impressive lineup of New York’s finest burger joints, plus patties from across the country—from smashburgers to vegan creations to photogenic bites made for your feed. Guests can expect an arcade lounge, a vintage flea market, carnival rides, and an “Orange Soda Fountain” chugging contest. There’ll also be DJ sets, trivia games, and a 90s dance battle.
“Kel has become a dear friend since I collaborated with him back in 2019 on his Good Burger pop-up restaurant in Los Angeles,” said Derek Berry, President of Experiences at Bucket Listers. “We’re beyond thrilled to bring this new experience to life.”
Mitchell announced the news on Instagram, where fans filled the comments with excitement. “Excited for this!!🙌🏾🍔🧡,” one user wrote. Another added, “My man knows his burgers so you know this is about to be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”
Mitchell Pours Into New Healthy Orange Soda Venture and Family Life
In addition to burgers, according to BET, Mitchell plans to launch his very own orange soda brand—a nod to his iconic “Kenan & Kel” character’s favorite drink. But this version will be a little different. “It has to be healthy,” Mitchell told fans during a Q&A at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut earlier this year. “I can’t have kids out here just drinking fructose and sugar, you know what I mean?”
On top of his career projects, Mitchell says his biggest supporters are his four children. At the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, he told People, “They love it. They cracked up. They’re like my biggest fans. Wisdom, he’s like my PR.”
Mitchell shares daughters Honor and Wisdom with wife Asia Lee, and is also dad to Allure and Lyric from his previous marriage. He says he supports their acting interests, especially after their cameos in “Good Burger 2”. “If they want to continue to do it, I’ll support them. They got to want to do it,” he added.
‘Good Burger 3’ Is In The Works
More “Good Burger” may be on the way. Mitchell confirmed at 90s Con that he and Kenan Thompson are actively working on the script for “Good Burger 3”. “It’s going to go down,” he said. “We teased it. At the end of the movie, I said, ‘We’re gonna go to space. We’re going to Fast and Furious this thing.’”
The duo’s most recent project, “Good Burger 2”, premiered in 2023 and featured original cast members Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, and Carmen Electra. According to People, a potential “Kenan & Kel” reboot is also being discussed—this time with the characters as husbands and dads navigating adulthood.
As for when fans can expect the next chapter, Mitchell reassured the crowd, “We’re not gonna make you guys wait over 15 years.”
