DWTS' Dancer Emma Slater Injures Ankle In Rehearsal, Leaving Her Out Of The Show's Dance Troupe | Decider

Emma Slater will not be busting a move any time soon after she seemingly busted her left ankle.

The Dancing with the Stars pro, who competed alongside Family Matters alum Reginald VelJohnson this season, took to Instagram to break the news about her injury, per Deadline.

“Today threw a little curve ball at me but got looked after by some special people,” she captioned her post. “On the phone to my mum and dad letting them know I’m ok. All is good, will be back soon   .”

As noted by Deadline, Slater and VelJohnson were cut from the competition show last week. After thanking fellow DWTS pro Britt Stewart — who is featured in a selfie alongside Slater in her post — for snapping pictures of her at the hospital, Slater continued her caption.

“Thought I was gunna be cutting a rug with my fellow #eliminated pros but sadly I got #eliminated from that crew too so I think I’ll go join @thereginaldveljohnson and just sit on the couch for a bit    ,” she added.

VelJohnson wished her well in the comments section of her post, writing, “, speedy recovery Emma .”

Fellow DWTS dancers both past and present also sent their love, including Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy , Ezra Sosa and Katerina Klishyna. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba and former contestant Tori Spelling sent well wishes, too.

Slater elaborated further on how she suffered her injury on her Instagram story, explaining that she “came out of a lift trick” during rehearsal, per Us Weekly.

“I thought it was OK, but I obviously didn’t come out great because my foot hit the floor and then just did that whole rollover thing,” she detailed.

In a separate story post on Tuesday, she updated fans that she had an MRI done and that “there’s a little bit of swelling,” but refrained from sharing her official diagnosis just yet. She said she is “going to try to make it” to tonight’s show, but noted she would be on crutches.

Dancing with the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
