Denise Welch Takes Charge: Tension Mounts as Kaye Adams is Shut Down on ITV's Loose Women trucc

Loose Women star Denise Welch was left unimpressed as she clashed with Kaye Adams on the ITV daytime show as she told her 'I'm talking' in a fiery exchange

Loose Women's Denise Welch didn't hesitate to put her co-host Kaye Adams in check by firmly stating "I'm talking" during a recent episode of the popular ITV daytime programme.

Kaye resumed her role as presenter on Friday (March 21), joined by Denise, Nadia Sawalha, and Kelly Brooke on the panel to delve into the day's hot topics.

The conversation started with the question "do women want to work in their 60s?" to which Denise began to respond: "People are working until their 68 and what's happening is as well, and we discussed it on a show the other day.."

However, when Kaye interjected with "How old are you just now?" Denise retorted: "I'll be 67 in May, thank you Kaye."

As Kaye attempted to ask another question, Denise cut her off, saying: "I'm talking. I've lost my thread now. It's the fact.. I can't even remember what I was saying."

This exchange sent both their fellow panellists and the audience into a fit of laughter, reports the Mirror.

This light-hearted moment occurred shortly after Denise had shared a harrowing account of domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of an ex-partner who once threw a table at a man simply for smiling at her.

On Monday's (March 17) show, while marking the first anniversary of their Facing It Together campaign, Denise recounted distressing details about a past toxic relationship with an unnamed individual, saying: "I fell in love with this incredibly charismatic man, very, very good-looking, and I thought that my whole life had aligned and this was the person for me.

"Then, of course, you don't realise what's happening, so he started to chip, chip, chip away at my personality. Personality traits that I thought made me quite popular suddenly became detrimental, and he would say things like, 'You know your friends aren't laughing with you, they're laughing at you.'".

"'You know, when you told that joke that they all laughed at, why did you tell that joke? It was rude. They were all rolling their eyes at each other,' and you start to slowly believe."

She also disclosed the significant impact her partner's dysfunction and jealousy had on the abuse.

Denise, who is now in a happy marriage with Lincoln Townley, recalled a particularly disturbing event from her past relationship. Recounting the incident, she said: "Before I was on the telly, nobody knew who I was, we were sat in a restaurant together and I was facing the door.

"The door opened and a couple walked in, and we just made eye contact, so I smiled at them and they smiled at me. He saw, he turned around and he looked at the guy, and I'm not going to say exactly what he said, but the table went up and he said, 'You want to... my girlfriend, right?'".

Reflecting on how these experiences affected her, Denise shared the emotional struggle she endured. She explained: "You can imagine that any normal person listening to that story would say, 'Why did you not just leave?' But you are so desperate to change that person, and they make you feel like you are the centre of their life."

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
