Derek Hough's dream of "little dancing children" is about to come true.

Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, have announced that they're expecting their first baby together. The Dancing With the Stars alums shared the news with a dreamy Tuesday Instagram video that sees them embracing against the backdrop of a scenic landscape while Alexander Jean's "So Small" plays. Towards the end, Erbert reveals sonogram photos to the camera.

"We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small," the couple captioned their joint post.

Just a few months ago, Hough told E! News that he and his wife envisioned kids in their future. "We definitely want to have a family eventually," he told the outlet. "We'll see what's in the cards, what's on the horizon. Little dancing children running around."

The couple, who are approaching their second wedding anniversary, tied the knot in August 2023. They first met in 2013 while working together on the So You Think You Can Dance tour. They didn't strike up a relationship until years later, and went public in 2017. Five years later, they announced their engagement.

The happy news that Hough and Erbert are expecting comes after a tough few years for the couple. In December 2023, Hough announced that Erbert underwent an emergency craniectomy after being diagnosed with an intracranial hematoma (a collection of blood in her skull). The duo were on their Symphony of Dance tour when Erbert became disoriented and was transported to the hospital where they removed part of her skull to relieve pressure on the brain and then replaced the removed section.

Throughout the health scare, Hough repeatedly praised his wife for her resilience. "Throughout this experience this woman has been unbelievable, and her perseverance and her acceptance of the whole situation, her strength, it's been remarkable to witness firsthand," he said in a February 2024 video. "She really is a miracle, and it's been miraculous and it's still a journey."

Erbert eventually made an emotional return to the stage in April 2024, rejoining her husband to conclude the dance tour. Later that year, they performed together on DWTS.

"When I woke up in the hospital, they did tell me, 'We don't know if you'll be able to walk again,'" Erbert said on the show. "But I'd like to say I'm a very stubborn person, and so I was determined to push myself to the limit to be able to dance again. To say it was easy to get there would be a complete lie."

Added Hough, "The fact that we're able to dance together again is nothing short of a miracle, and I'm beyond thankful."
