Opening up.
Bachelor Nation fans got to know and love Chloie Costello on Season 29 of “The Bachelor.”
Since her time on the show, she has been keeping fans updated with her life online and found love off-screen with boyfriend Hutch Hershberger.
Now, the Bachelor Nation star is opening up online and revealing how she got cast on “The Bachelor” and why she originally applied.

In a new video, she shared, “Rewind to July of last summer, because it’s been exactly a year basically since all of this started happening. I was in a classic quarter-life crisis, seasonal summer blues, it happens to me every summer. I was swirling about life, like what am I doing with my life, where am I going, my personal life blah blah. Feeling sorry for myself. My roommate was like, ‘You should apply for reality tv. You’re the perfect candidate, you can just pick up your life.’ Like, I’m modeling I have a freelance lifestyle, or whatever.”
Chloie went on and shared the moment she decided to apply for the show.
“You know when you easy-apply on LinkedIn?” she said, “You know you’re never going to hear back but it just makes you feel better about yourself like you did something? That’s how I felt about this. I’m doing something, I’m sending out into the universe. And I just filled out their questionnaire. I pulled up BachelorNation.com, apply to be on the show… and then submitted. Didn’t think twice about it — out of sight, out of mind.”
The Bachelor Nation star then heard back from the show only a couple weeks later.

She shared, “Two weeks later, I’m sitting in a nail salon, thankfully the nail salon was dead empty. It was just me and the lady. And I’m on the phone with my mom and then I get another call, and normally you always ignore random phone calls, but this one had a California area code so I was like oh maybe it’s my agent or something. So, I answered and the other person on the other side of the line was like, ‘Hey, this is [a producer] from ‘The Bachelor.’ Do you have a second to talk?’ and I was like, ‘Wait, sorry, what?’”
Chloie also revealed things started to move very quickly since she was traveling abroad.
“The ball basically started rolling from there and so the next day I had a zoom with casting producers,” she went on, “I was literally leaving in a week to go on a three-week backpacking trip through Europe… When I was in Europe in the Swiss Alps, I got the call that I was going to California. And then I got back and I had one week before I left. I flew to Kansas City and borrowed a bunch of dresses from cousins and went through my closet there. Said goodbye to my family, came back and did a massive Zara haul and packed up and left. It was crazy. And that’s kind of that. The rest is history, I suppose. All in all, it is such a funny little blip in the story of my life, but I’m glad I did it!”
We love hearing from Chloie and we’re so glad she applied as well. What a fun story!
