Kim Woodburn has died aged 83 after a short illness, it has been confirmed

The TV star, who rose to fame in Channel 4's hit series How Clean is Your House, passed away on Monday (june 16).

A representative for Kim said: "It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness.

"Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person. Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate. We are so proud of the amazing things Kim achieved in her life and career."

The statement added: "We kindly ask that Kim’s husband and close friends are given the time and privacy they need to grieve. We will not be releasing any further details."

It comes after Kim has been opened about her health struggles in recent months. She had been offering personal video greetings to her loyal followers and also sold clips on the Cameo platform.

But earlier this month she told her social media followers: "No more videos for now, my loves, I need to get better!"

A post on her Instagram account read: "We regret to tell you that Kim is unable to record any further videos for the foreseeable future, due to a health problem. Kim sends her love to you all."

Before her TV fame, Kim became a live-in cleaner. In 2002, while working in similar role in Kent, Channel 4 reached out to a cleaning company seeking a cleaner with a "funny temperament" and she was recommended.

Following a screen test, she was paired with Aggie MacKenzie and filming for the now iconic show began just weeks later. The pair went on to front show for six series up until August 2009.

Later that same year, Kim was announced as one of the contestants for ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here. She finished as runner-up on the show to TV chef Gino D'Acampo.

She went on to appear as a regular on Big Brother's spin-off series from 2011. Then in 2017, Kim entered Big Brother as a housemate for a special Celebrity series - finishing in third spot after a controversial series.
