The Washington Capitals recently announced they were taking over CityCenterDC’s popular Palmer Alley to celebrate their upcoming 50th anniversary season. Now, they’re inviting the public to the official unveiling event and it seems pretty rad.
On Friday, September 6 from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, along with current and former players Karl Alzner, Martin Fehervary, and Mike Green, will be in attendance at Palmer Alley to sign autographs and take photos with fans.
Alexa Landestoy will emcee the event which will also feature comments from Leonsis, Alzner, Timothy Lowery (Hines Vice President, Mixed-Use), and Brooke Pinto (Ward 2 Councilmember).
Palmer Alley is located a few blocks from Capital One Arena. The Capitals-themed installation will feature hanging pucks, hockey sticks, and a Weagle fixture which will project shadows onto the ground below.
The Capitals worked with PG County-based Design Foundry on the project and the takeover is the first time a sports team has collaborated with CityCenterDC for a sports-related installation.
