Candiace Dillard Calls Out Gizelle for Weaponizing Assault Claims: “Morally Corrupt and Criminal” tram

Candiace Dillard-Bassett took to social media on Monday to share her thoughts on the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac, which saw the cast, including Gizelle Bryant, coming together to speak out against sexual violence.

In a series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, Candiace, 37, seemingly told her fans and followers that she found it extremely “triggering” to see Gizelle, 53, commenting about sexual assault following the insinuations of inappropriate behavior she made against her husband, Chris Bassett, during season seven.

“It’s triggering to watch a woman who accused someone of sexual assault speaking about sexual assault. I’m tired. I’m actually very tired. A Thread,” Candiace began on January 15, failing to call out Gizelle by name.

“Full context: I haven’t seen the episode yet, but I saw the clip of some of us speaking about our personal experiences with SA. I’m grateful to those in our friend group who were courageous enough to share their story,” she continued. “I also read some of the comments, and as horrifying and embarrassing and frightening as it can be to talk about your own experience, I’m grateful that based on the comments that I’ve read, that ‘shattering the silence’ can liberate some of you.”

“It’s also liberating for me to know that I’m not an alien in my personal story of what happened to me. So, thank you,” she added.

In another series of posts, Candiace suggested Gizelle falsely accused Chris of sexual assault.

“People who manipulate words and blatantly [misuse] the English language to insinuate that anyone sexually assaulted them is criminal,” she stated.

She then appeared to give a nod to Gizelle’s comment about Chris making her feel uncomfortable in a hotel room.

“‘He made me go into a hotel room.’ Yet another iteration of her [sexual assault] insinuations,” Candiace wrote. “That she would now sit and speak as if she is an advocate for sexual assault awareness is morally corrupt and criminal … I’m triggered and I’m tired. I’m tired and I’m not allowing it to slide or slip through the cracks.”
