During Wednesday night's episode of ITV Big Brother, it was confirmed that Martha would be the latest housemate to leave the infamous house with immediate effect
In the latest turn of events on Big Brother, housemate Martha was left devastated when she had to make an abrupt exit from the ITV show through the back door.
The twist came at the close of Tuesday's episode, which left audiences reeling when it was announced that they would have the power to immediately decide which contestant would be leaving the notorious abode, with the outcome to be revealed in tonight's episode (October 30). In a menacing Halloween week surprise, Emma, who had been voted head of the house, faced the difficult task of nominating four housematesKhaled, Martha, Thomas, and Alifor potential eviction, oblivious to the secret vote being cast by viewers.
During Wednesday's programme, as the contestants engaged in a 'trick or treat' activity under Emma's direction, including choosing whom to drench in gunk, the time arrived for Khaled, Martha, Thomas, and Ali to learn their destiny. Unbeknownst to them, not only were they at risk of getting gunked but also of being sent home immediately.
Sadly for Martha, her journey on Big Brother came to an unexpected halt, as she was compelled to depart forthwith. Visibly shaken by her sudden eviction, she expressed her gratitude: "Thanks for an amazing opportunity. You've got an amazing bunch in here."
Fans expressed their feelings online following the Big Brother contestants' reactions and ensuing departure. On X, a fan commented, "I always get more sad when a Big Brother fan like Martha gets a back door eviction over someone who has never watched it, like Khaled. True fans deserve their moment on stage because we know that's all everybody wants," reports the Mirror.
Another wrote: "Nah they don't rate Martha. Not even ending the episode with her eviction loooool."
And another chimed in: "Whether you like Martha or not we lost a housemate that wanted to be there over someone who complains how boring it is and doesn't do anything of any interest whatsoever."
Upon learning that this series would see its first back-door eviction, viewers were distinctly unimpressed. A viewer stated: "Backdoor evictions are unfair to the housemate and the viewers."
Echoing the sentiment, another fan added: "God, would probably most hate a backdoor eviction. Shame. Don't waste your vote on Thomas when we won't see him all week anyhow."
Despite not having the opportunity to articulate her thoughts in the revered Diary Room at the end of the show, Martha was afforded a chance to converse with host AJ Odudu during her eviction interview on the spin-off programme, Late and Live.
Big Brother airs Sundays-Fridays at 9pm on ITV2.
