Ben Mezzenga of ‘Love Is Blind’ Season 8 Emerged as the Undercover Villain liennhi

Ben Mezzenga has had his chance to redeem himself, with Sara Carton and viewers giving him the benefit of the doubt one time too many. However, the Love Is Blind Season 8 reunion pulled the curtain on Ben’s farce of trying to be the ignorant yet inherently nice guy who only had true intentions going into the experiment. Sara revealed appalling details about Ben that put into perspective the accusations that were circling about him on TikTok and news outlets. He was definitely not on the show for the right reasons and has also turned out to be a profoundly narcissistic and cunning individual.

Sara and Ben tried to make things work after their wedding to the point where they had planned to move to Nashville together for three months. Once Sara got to Nashville, Ben offered her a meek apology and completely ghosted her for months. Then, just before filming the Love Is Blind reunion, he reached out to her upon coaxing from former contestant Jimmy Presnell to rehearse their lines for the reunion. Ben’s entire persona during the reunion felt PR coded and fake.

Ben Mezzenga’s Persona During the 'Love Is Blind' Reunion Was Disingenuine

During the Love Is Blind reunion, Ben’s demeanor was wildly unsettling. His responses sounded calculated, and he’d even plastered a fake smile when Sara hit him with accusations. It was quite evident that Ben had been PR trained to give diplomatic or inconclusive responses that would prevent his image from getting further tarnished. He even had an entire monologue prepared about how Sara had opened his eyes to start caring about having an opinion on socio-political issues.

He put his best foot forward to make viewers believe he was now a reformed human being. What was incredibly frustrating was that Ben refused to take accountability for blindsiding Sara amid their intended move to Nashville. He tried to bounce off of her accusations and make it seem like she was the bad guy when, all along, it’s been crystal clear that he was the shady one in their relationship.

It goes without saying that Ben was not on Love Is Blind for the right reasons. He was yet another contestant chasing fame, which Sara spilled all the tea on during an exclusive interview with People on March 7, 2025. She discovered that several women had commented under the viral TikTok, where a girl had alleged that Ben had ill-treated her. Eventually, Sara even discovered that Ben was giving out business cards to promote his YouTube channel.

Even Ben’s remark about rehearsing responses that was revealed during the reunion further solidifies that he didn’t go into the experiment with the right intentions. He was chasing fame and was incredibly insincere in his relationship with Sara — which even the latter agrees with. Sara firmly believes that the more she got to know Ben as the weeks progressed, the more obvious it became that his reasons for coming on Love Is Blind were not from the right place.

Ben Mezzenga’s Treatment of Sara Carton Is Ghastly

Sara shared during the reunion that Ben had dropped her out of the blue despite the duo having decided to move to Nashville together. In an exclusive interview with People on March 9, 2025, Sara remarked how Ben’s denial of the fact that they’d made these plans and alleging they’d broken up before she drove down to Nashville was utterly bizarre. Sara revealed that he removed her from his Find My Friends the second she got to Nashville, offered her a fake apology, and ghosted her for weeks until it was time to shoot the reunion. Ben denied they’d made any such plans and alleged they’d conclude their relationship before Sara drove to Nashville. However, the women sided with Sara, backing up her claims about the fact that the former couple was working on their relationship, and Ben did, in fact, agree to move to Nashville with Sara.

At least David Betternburg admitted to his mistakes and took the heat for his actions. Ben relentlessly tried to justify and lie through his teeth each time a problematic behavior trait was brought up, to the point where he lost any credibility. And, of course, when he was backed into a corner, he went with his standard excuse of how he “doesn’t remember.” Ben’s inauthenticity and ill-treatment of Sara make him take the cake from David as the ultimate villain of Love Is Blind Season 8.
