Big Brother viewers are demanding answers from producers as they want to know why a certain area in the house is hidden and is hardly ever shown on the popular ITV2 programme
Fans of Big Brother have been left perplexed by an integral aspect that is rarely ever seen on the show.
The ITV2 series has kept viewers glued to their screens since it kicked off earlier this month and the action has failed to cease. But eagle-eyed viewers have noticed that the smoking area has hardly been showcased on the programme, despite there being housemates who smoke and vape.
Earlier in the series, the smoking room was shown very briefly when housemate Marcello joked that he shared a kiss with Ali in the secret spot. In addition to this, it was also displayed when Big Brother addressed a rule break in the house, however since then, viewers haven't had a chance to see the room and are demanding to know why.
Heading over to social media site, Reddit, fans shared their thoughts and suspicions. Sparking the conversation about the mystery area, one fan asked: "Why has BB stopped including it in the show? We all know that's where the spicy tea is. I had a quick look and it's not illegal or against broadcasting guidelines as it's post-watershed. We're missing out."
Replying to the comment, one viewer said: "Didn't they use to have to buy cigarettes out of the shopping budget too? The drama."
Another shared the reason why the smoking are isn't shown and said: "Only one person is supposedly allowed in at one time to stop them gossiping in there."
Another added that it may have been a deliberate choice from the broadcaster. They wrote: "It was a decision from ITV, they don’t want to be seen to be encouraging smoking because society’s attitude towards it have changed."
While a fourth viewer shared: "It’s so annoying, in the final Channel 5 series we were all wondering why Sian was getting ZERO screen time, literally less than Tom this season. Anyway, after she got evicted she revealed its because she just chain-smoked all day so they couldn’t use any of her scenes. So much great content gets cut, it really annoys me."
On Thursday night's show, the Big Brother house was split in two for the latest task. But this also came with certain restrictions and some housemates were permitted by their fellow co-stars from entering the smoking room.
Big Brother airs Sundays - Fridays at 9pm on ITV2.
