Reverend Richard Coles has admitted that going on Strictly Come Dancing was "embarrassing" and said that his paso doblé routine was "not his finest hour." The writer and broadcaster appeared on the 2017 series and was partnered with Australian dancer Dianne Buswell. When he was sent home from the BBC dance competition, Richard also said he found his experience "joyous". He said at the time to Tess Daly: "I only forgot to reckon into my strategy that I can't actually dance!" He was the second celebrity contestant to be voted off that year.
Speaking to The Times, Richard opened up about his most embarrassing moment: "My attempt at the paso doble on Strictly Come Dancing was not my finest hour."
The 63-year-old previously said he thought "he'd be good" on the BBC show and spoke of his experience after the judges voted him home.
He said: "For some unfathomable reason, I thought I’d be good at Strictly Come Dancing. I found out, simultaneously with 10 million other people, that was not the case.
"It was a brutal awakening. Being kicked off it was like being sent home from a party when you were a kid because you’ve wet yourself. Maybe people felt sorry for me, because they were nice to me afterwards."
