Amy Dowden has declared she has a 'big project' on the way after sending a message of 'love, help and support' to singer Jessie J as she revealed her cancer diagnosis.

Fans of the dancer know that she faced her own cancer journey recently. She underwent treatment for breast cancer and shared her diagnosis publicly after being given the news in May 2023.

Amy told how she'd found a lump in April, the day before her honeymoon with fellow dancer Ben Jones, and had to undergo a single mastectomy before having chemotherapy treatment.

In February 2024, the Strictly Come Dancing star announced she had "no evidence of disease" following tests and later made a triumphant return to the hit dance show for its 20th-anniversary series last year.

But Amy is often hit with a reminder about what she went through having been to the hospital for her monthly injection, due to having had a hormone-fed cancer, and also undergoing regular scans to track her progress.

The Welsh star, however, is living her life to the full and following a well-deserved holiday in Dubai with her husband Ben Jones, Amy has headed back to work.

She took to Instagram on Wednesday (June 4) and teased her online followers with what she's up to. She posted what appeared to be a studio set-up and wrote a little message to her fans.

Amy said: "Doing something today which I really hope is going to help so many others! Very exciting, big project coming later this year."

It came after Amy was among those to show her support to Jessie J, who shared with her fans that she has received an 'early cancer diagnosis'.

The 37-year-old singer took to social media to reveal she received the medical news before her new single, 'New Secrets', dropped on April 25, and she has been "in and out of tests" since.

She said in an Instagram video: "Before 'No Secrets' came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I’m highlighting the word 'early'.

"Cancer sucks in any form but I’m holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period." Jessie went "back and forth" with herself about whether she should share her news, due to there being "lots of opinions outside".

But the Who You Are singer felt she should tell all, particularly because of the name of her latest single, 'No Secrets', which was inspired by a miscarriage she had in 2021.

She said: "To get diagnosed with this, as I’m putting out a song called ‘No Secrets’ right before a song called ‘Living My Best Life,’ which was all pre-planned before I found out about this, I mean you can’t make it up.

"I just wanted to be open and share it - one, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me, with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories..."

Resharing Jessie's post to her own Instagram Story, Amy commented: "Sending all the love and strength! Please all, this is a reminder to check yourselves! You know our our body better than anyone else!

"@jessiej the pink sister club is not a club anyone wants to be part of but the community is so strong and supportive. There is so much love, help and support for you!"
