Andy Cohen Admits RHONJ Alternate Reunion Felt Like a "Series Finale," Describes Watch Party as a "Soft Landing" for Show as He Says Fans Will "Really Like" Episode

Andy Cohen addressed the upcoming alternate reunion of The Real Housewives of New Jersey on his radio show this week.

Following the airing of the season 14 finale, which featured numerous spats between castmates, including Teresa Giudice, 52, and Melissa Gorga, 45, and Jennifer Aydin, 47, and Danielle Cabral, 38, Andy, 56, admitted that the watch party between the divided cast felt like a “series finale.”

“I want to get into some Housewives talk. Everyone’s still talking about [RHONJ]. People still texting me about it as well as I got the Jersey ladies texting me,” Andy began on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.

According to Andy, he believes viewers are going to “really like” the alternate reunion and described the episode as a “soft landing” for the series.

“I think you’re gonna really like the finale, though. I mean, the reunion, that’s not a reunion. I think it’s kind of a soft landing for the show. Let me say that,” he stated.

Andy then noted that when it comes to the upcoming episode, which will see two groups of cast members watching the finale separately, it will have the feeling of finality.

“Did kind of feel like a series finale, didn’t it?” he asked.

Although there have been rumors of a potential cancellation of RHONJ in recent weeks amid dwindling ratings on the series, Andy has instead suggested that there will be some sort of reboot ahead of season 15.

At the end of last month on Andy Cohen Live, Andy stated that he would be doing something different with RHONJ as he mentioned the possible addition of “all fresh faces.” Then, after causing a stir among fans, he set the record straight on another episode.

“We had a caller the other day who called in about [RHONJ] and I was just riffing and I’m like, ‘Yeah.’ You know, she had not heard that we are, you know, gonna reimagine the show in some way and I was just, I’m like, ‘Yeah, well, we’re rebooting it. That’s why. We got it’ … and I go, ‘Yeah, well, you know what? Who knows? Maybe it’ll be all fresh faces,’” Andy recalled.

Then, after the quote was made into a headline, Andy wondered what the big deal was.

“I’m like, ‘Wait, this is not new news,’ and I was also not definitively saying it’s going to be all fresh faces. I was like, ‘Maybe all fresh faces, maybe not,’” he explained. “I mean … It’s just so weird. Sometimes it makes me think there’s not that much to write about, you know?”
