Andrea McLean has revealed she's finally recovered after her health scare earlier this year, which saw her collapse in her bathroom and be rushed to hospital.
The former Loose Women star, 55, spent a week in hospital, where she was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, Acute Kidney Injury and sepsis - revealing that she had lost 80% capacity in one of her lungs.
And despite a tough time over the last few months, Andrea tells the Mirror she's finally feeling fit again as she enjoyed her first night out since the ordeal at Nick Ede and Alexandra Burke's Spring Ball in London. "I’m feeling really good now, this is actually my first real night out since it happened," says Andrea.
Continuing that lifestyle changes have been key to her recovery, she said, "It has been quite a long recovery process but I’ve slowed down my pace of life and I’m feeling really good”.
Andrea was attending the Spring Ball alongside her husband Nick Feeney, admitting that the event - which raises money for stroke charities - is close to her heart after watching her grandmother suffer a stroke.
Back in February, Andrea opened up about her health scare and revealed that she had been recovering from her hospitalisation, detailing the scary ordeal on her blog. Recalling the incident, Andrea said she had been struck down with the flu in December before things took a more serious turn.
"After seven days of sweating and shivering, with a raging temperature and chills, and pain in my chest and back, my wee turned brown. I collapsed in the bathroom, and like the adverts you see on telly with the elderly, I lay there for an hour before my husband found me," she said.
Praising her husband's support throughout the recovery, Andrea continued, "Nick’s life stopped for the first few weeks of the new year too, as he drove me into hospital every day, and then every other day, until I was officially discharged.
"He sat outside the unit where I was being tested, scanned, attached to drips and waiting for discussions with a doctor – for hours and hours at a time. He drove me home, made everyone dinner, listened to them all talk about their day, then put me to bed. And then did it all again the next day. And the next."
Earlier this month, Andrea admitted she's 'not quite better yet' as she had another visit to A&E after falling in her home and ending up with a black eye.
She wrote to Instagram: "I just woke up yesterday morning and got out of bed too fast, I guess before I'd properly woken up. By the time I'd walked the few steps to the bathroom I thought: 'I don't feel too good..' and fainted. I landed on my face. Literally, face-planted onto the bathroom floor.
"I have been checked out at A&E and thankfully my cheekbone isn't broken, and I won't lose any teeth. I was really lucky. Lesson learned. Take a moment. I'm not quite 'better' yet."
