AMY Dowden has revealed the details about her injury after stepping down from this year's Strictly Come Dancing.
The dancer, 34, broke down in tears on this evening's instalment of BBC's It Takes Two.
Amy, who has Crohn's Disease and has been battling cancer over the past year, and JLS legend JB Gill were partnered on this year's series.
However Amy had to quit the competition following her medical emergency last month.
Speaking for the first time since the news was announced, Amy said on the spin-off show: "I'm absolutely gutted, unfortunately I have an insufficiency stress fracture, if I've said that right.
"Nothing to do with my injury last year.
"I'm gutted but I need to rest for a couple of weeks.
"JB needs to continue and he has the amazing Lauren."
Amy then broke down in tears as host Janette Manrara asked: "How much do you think being back with the gang contributed to your overall wellbeing?"
"Oh it was everything...sorry, I'm heartbroken," Amy said, as she started to cry.
Janette then reached over and grabbed Amy's hand, telling her: "It's okay, give me your hand. We're in this together. We've got this."
Wiping her eyes, Amy added: "Being back with the Strictly family has been the best rehab."
Strictly’s JB Gill and new partner Lauren Oakley share steamy video after Amy Dowden's exit
The singer is now dancing with professional Lauren Oakley, but Amy did hint that she could return to the show in some capacity.
She said: "I'll be back dancing in some capacity, maybe in a group number by the end of the series."
Amy missed the results show last week after she was rushed to hospital, and she was temporarily replaced by Lauren for both rehearsals and the live show.
Amy had collapsed backstage and was whisked to hospital. JB then appeared alone on the Strictly Results Show.
It was later confirmed Amy had suffered a devastating foot injury.
But unfortunately now Amy won't be returning to the dance floor.
A Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson said: “Sadly, Amy Dowden MBE will not be partaking in the rest of the competition this year.
"Whilst Amy focuses on her recovery following a foot injury, fellow Professional Dancer, Lauren Oakley, will step in as JB’s dance partner.
"The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in Strictly are always the utmost priority. The whole Strictly family sends Amy love and well wishes."
It comes after Amy fractured her foot in November 2003.
Amy's appearance in Strictly 2024 comes a year after having to take a step back after her breast cancer diagnosis.
The star was diagnosed in May 2023 and went on to have chemotherapy and a mastectomy.
Amy was given the all clear in February this year.
