TV favourite Alison Hammond, 50, has shut down the rumour mill surrounding her love life by praising the value of commitment following false whispers of a split from her man David. The couple, who have been an item since December 2023, were the subjects of speculation until recent snaps showed them looking cosier than ever.
In a heartfelt chat with Loose Women's Judi Love on the 'Smart TV' podcast, bubbly Alison preached the gospel of dedication in romance, saying: "You've got to work on it – I always say you've got to have all that passion, you've got to want each other, you've got to choose each other, haven't you, and commit."
She added to her poignant point: "There's got to be that commitment because if there's no commitment, then what's the point?".
The pictures that put the rumours to bed captured Alison and David in a tender moment, hand-in-hand on a daytime stroll, presenting a united front.
Not one to shy away from candid talk, Alison previously faced down critics over her relationship's age gap, dismissing the 'toyboy' tag on David during an interview with Good Housekeeping UK.
She opened up about their relationship by saying: "I can see how, on paper, you'd notice the age difference. But honestly, when we see the word 'toyboy' written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all. Yes, I'm 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you'd understand. People have said to me, 'We get it now.'".
The depth of their relationship, she says, comes from their difference in personalities. Alison shared: "He's so mature and sensible, and I'm so not. And the things he says to me...they're just so lovely. It's like a jigsaw; we fit and it all comes together."
It was reportedly during a £150 massage session that sparks flew between Alison and David. On the telly front, Alison's next big gig is presenting The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer, alongside Channel 4 stars Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding and temporary judge Lady Caroline Waldegrave.
Taking over Prue Leith’s usual spot, Caroline confessed her nerves, sharing with WalesOnline: "I was completely terrified. Then, when I turned up, I went to the shepherd's hut I was allotted and there were banners outside saying 'Welcome!' and flowers."
