For the Washington Capitals 50th anniversary season, the organization did something really special.
After practice concluded at Capital One Arena on Monday, the team surprised a select number of the team’s original 36 season ticket account holders with gifts and their tickets for this season. And yes, Alex Ovechkin participated.
Paired with the team’s latest signee, 2018 Stanley Cup champion Jakub Vrana, Ovechkin drove up in his black Ovi mobile and made the priceless delivery. Though he made Vrana ring the doorbell.

“Hey, there. How are you?” Vrana said bashfully, looking down at the ground.
“What’s up, guys?” Ovi says in the background.
The Roney family — including Jack (dad), Deb (mom), and Kyle (son) — excitedly greeted the players.
“My hero,” Jack says. The two then hug — it does not appear Ovi had a say in the matter.
“Yeah, we have some gifts for you,” Ovechkin said.
The Capitals captain then took out a special 50th anniversary season-ticket box and a special jersey.
“V, you wanna sign first?”
The family mingled with the players for a bit before taking photos together.
“It was nice to meet you,” Ovechkin said. “Thank you for the support.”
“It’s awesome,” Vrana added.
Other Capitals players made deliveries around the area as well.
“What a shock and a thrill to see my all-time ice hockey hero at my doorstep,” Jack said to RMNB. “Ovi was gracious and kind. He thanked me for being a season ticket holder for 50 years. I thanked him for the thrills he’s given us, above all, the Stanley Cup.”
